On 3. and June 4, 2023 our almost traditional bikepacking event, the veloheld GRAVEL SPARTAKIADE, took place in the picturesque scenery of Saxon and Bohemian Switzerland. Over 90 enthusiastic riders came to take part in this fantastic challenge on their gravel bikes. The common goal: a night in a tent (or without) on a rustic Czech campsite, surrounded by impressive nature, before heading back to Dresden together the next day.
Shortly after the start at the veloheld showroom in Dresden, it was a dusty ride through the Dresden Heath.
The participants were challenged with two routes of different lengths and difficulties, both of which led to the campsite in Ostrov near the Děčín Snow Mountain. The choice of route was entirely up to the riders, and they could choose whether they preferred to ride just under 90 km or even around 140 km to the finish. As the start did not take place until around 10 am at the veloheld showroom, most of the starters opted for the short route. Next year we will move the start further forward to give you more time to complete the long route.

The checkpoint in Bad Schandau was excellently looked after by our friends from Globetrotter Dresden. Here the participants were able to replenish their energy reserves, repair minor defects and prepare for the final sections of the long and short tour. A huge thank you to Simon and his team at Globetrotter – that was a real premium checkpoint!
We hope that, despite a few minor problems, you were able to enjoy the tours and the whole experience at the campsite. We are already looking forward to next year, where we will incorporate your ideas and suggestions for improvement for the GRAVEL SPARTAKIADE in order to organize an even “cooler” event for you.

The veloheld GRAVEL SPARTAKIADE 2024 is already in the starting blocks and will be held on 1. and June 2, 2024 take place. We would like to surprise you, because next year we will be going in a completely new “direction”. So you can look forward to something new again.
