The Gravel Spartakiade is our annual ride for all bike heroes, bike heroines and all heroic gravel friends. Over two days, we explore our beautiful home in Saxon and Bohemian Switzerland in a short and a longer route. We spend the night bikepacking-style on a rustic Czech campsite and also get to enjoy the Bohemian cuisine. We would be delighted if you could be our guests this year and take part in the 3. and June 4 will spend two wonderful days with us on the bike.

Action! What can you expect?

On Saturday morning, June 3, we will set off from the veloheld showroom at 10 a.m. for a gravel adventure in the direction of Saxon Switzerland. You can ride the Gravel Spartakiade as a “race” or simply enjoy the beautiful route as a tour.

There will be a shorter and a longer route variant, which we will send you as a GPX file by email about a week before the event.

On Sunday, after breakfast at the campsite, we will roll back towards Dresden with the veloheld showroom as our destination.

Your equipment - what do you need to take with you?

As the announcement suggests, you’ll need a fancy gravel bike at best.
“gravel bike”
 with a tire width of at least 32 mm. We recommend around 40 mm. This means you are perfectly prepared for the different surfaces on the route and will also make fast progress.

Of course you can also ride along on a cross bike or MTB. We would not recommend mom’s city bike or a racing bike. In addition to the bike, you will also need a spare inner tube, pump, repair kit and tools for repairs on the road. If you want to ride for longer, you should also have lights with you.

You will also need a
GPS-enabled bike computer
to find the routes, which we will send you in the week before the event. If you don’t have such a device, you can of course also team up with fellow cyclists to complete the tour together.

You also need to have suitable clothing for all possible weather scenarios and, of course, a few snacks and enough drinks for the road. The evening meal is of course included in the starting price.

To make the whole thing a real bikepacking adventure, a tent or bivouac and a sleeping bag are of course essential.

And, surely we don’t need to mention it: a helmet is compulsory!

The schedule - the most important points!

  • Start of the Gravel Spartakiade is on 03.06.2023 from approx. 10:00 a.m. directly at our veloheld showroom
  • Participation fee: € 70.00 (incl. VAT) for route, accommodation and meals
  • registration is open from 9:00 a.m. on the day of the event
  • the route takes you through Saxon Switzerland and ends at a beautifully situated campsite in the Czech Republic
  • there will be a checkpoint on the route where you can choose between the long (approx. 120 -150 km) or short route (80 - 100 km)
  • We end the day together around a campfire
  • On Sunday, 04.06.2023 we will gravel back to Dresden together in a relaxed manner
  • The starting price includes a barbecue dinner and a drink (beer, wine, water or similar) on 03.06. and the breakfast on 04.06. included. Of course you can purchase additional food and drinks for a small contribution

By submitting your registration, you declare your participation at your own risk and peril and accept the following points:

  • This is not a race, but a private ride without timekeeping and rankings!
  • All participants are adequately insured (personal liability insurance and accident insurance)
  • As we will also be on public roads, all participants are obliged to observe the applicable traffic regulations and to behave considerately towards other road users!
  • The organizer reserves the right to interrupt or cancel the event due to bad weather or force majeure and accepts no liability for any damage caused as a result. There will be no refund of the entry fee. In the event of non-participation, interruption of the event or premature termination at the participant's own request, there is no right to reimbursement of the participation fee or other compensation.
  • Wearing a helmet is compulsory!
  • Liability for damage to material or third parties lies with the individual participant!
  • The participant agrees that his/her personal data (name, address, e-mail, telephone number and date of birth) may be used for the purpose of automated data processing. Photos, video and sound recordings in which I can be seen during the event may be used by the organizer for publication on the website or in print and other media for PR and advertising purposes without payment.
