Bespoked 2023 in Dresden
"The most beautiful "fair" we have ever been to!"
The
Bespoked Bike Fair 2023
from October 13-15, 2023 at Dresden Airport was a truly impressive event for bicycle enthusiasts and manufacturers. It provided a wonderful platform for the presentation of handmade, customized and unique bicycles as well as accessories such as bags and components. Visitors were able to admire various bicycle designs and get in touch with the creative creators.
We were also there with our team and four new veloheld models, which we manufacture in our frame construction workshop in Leipzig, to answer your questions.
The show was a super inspiring event that celebrated the passion for custom bikes and craftsmanship.
For all those who didn’t have the opportunity to visit us at the trade fair weekend, here is a brief summary of what you missed.
#Allroad
You already know our veloheld.icon Allroad road bike. It was the first frame with which we started our local frame construction in Leipzig.
On site you were able to see the ingenious fading wet paint finish for yourself and admire the 3D printed dropouts in the Columbus tubes.
We didn’t have our new “mechanical” veloheld.icon with us, which we currently have in the SALE.
Be a rad tourist!
For the first time we were able to present you our brand new veloheld.farway Pinion touring bike.
We have worked on this touring bike for a long time so that we can now build it optimally. Based on our experience with our “old” veloheld.lane Pinion, we used a small tension pulley directly on the gearbox to tension the belt on this bike. This brings many advantages, in particular a fixed and drive-stiff position of the rear wheel. This is extremely important, especially with the high torque in the light gears of the transmission. It is also equipped with a Pinion C1.12 gearbox, comfortable 28″ DT-Swiss wheels with 50 mm wide Schwalbe G-One Overland tires. Of course, it has a complete SON lighting system as standard lighting.
Iron everything away!
veloheld.iron
The next new frame from our local frame shop that we were able to show you as a complete bike at the trade fair was the 2024 veloheld.iron mountain bike. The frame was an almost final prototype. We will make a few minor changes to the frame over the next few weeks and then it will be ready for you!
What’s new compared to its predecessor? A whole lot!
The tubes now come from Reynolds and are, of course, specially selected from the 853 series for the often tough field of application. The dropouts have UDH standard and Boost installation widths. The cable routing is internal from the down tube to the chainstays via a T47 bottom bracket shell. A total of 4 bottle holders for drinks and bags can be attached. And that brings us to the area of application. You wanted a slightly more moderate geo compared to the predecessor to make the bike even more suitable for touring and bikepacking. This means that the top tube is not too long and the angles are not too shallow. We recommend 100-120 mm as suspension travel for possible suspension forks. However, there will also be a rigid fork again. The maximum tire width for 29″ is 2.4″.
At the trade fair we were able to talk to our friend Sven from
Reisefix
to present such a bikepacking setup. He will make bags to match the color and size of your frame.
The hubs of the wheels on the knife wheel are also something very special. They come from
QVIST
and, like our frames, are produced locally. A little more patience and they will be available for you too.
The grips are also locally sourced and if you’re a mountain biker, you’ve probably heard of them – the Frozen Grips from Freeze Components with their almost infinite design possibilities.
We will present the exact details and prices for the frame and possible complete bikes in the coming weeks. So stay tuned!
Pack more!
veloheld. bastiaen
And number 4 is the new veloheld cargo bike – the veloheld.bastiaen.
Ok, the wheel is not that new. It has been marketed for some time as the Bastiaen cargo bike by its “inventor” Sven Bastiaen Schulze. But a few years ago, Sven wanted to put the “project” in good hands, as he wanted to devote himself to his original profession, industrial design. That’s how we got to know each other and decided to continue with his concept.
After many small adjustments in our frame construction workshop, we were able to present the cargo bike to the public for the first time under the veloheld logo at the Bespoked trade fair. The highlight of the bike is undoubtedly the Ackermann steering, which allows direct force to be applied to the frame and does not have to be absorbed by a small fork. Forks are for eating!
The exact details of the bike and its body variants will be presented to you in detail soon, as we still have to adjust a few details on the loading area.
