To give you an orientation before buying your new veloheld bike, we have divided our bikes into categories according to their area of use. Frames, forks and attachments have been designed and selected for this area of use and the loads to be expected there.

In addition to the correct area of use, regular maintenance and care is also necessary for the service life and therefore also for your safety of all components. Please refer to our recommendations for maintenance and care intervals.

Children’s bikes

Category 0 wheels

For journeys on paved roads, such as asphalt roads and cycle paths, paved forest roads, field paths that are not used by motor vehicles. The wheels are in constant contact with the ground (no jumps).

The responsibility of the parents: The correct handling of the bike, as well as the instruction and checking of the functionality of the bike and its components, are the responsibility of the legal guardian(s).


Road bikes with road bike handlebars

Category 1 wheels

For riding on paved roads, such as asphalt roads and cycle paths. Both wheels never lose contact with the ground (no jumps, no riding on just one wheel).


Urban and city bikes as well as gravel bikes with road bike handlebars

Category 2 wheels

For riding on paved roads, such as asphalt roads and cycle paths, paved forest roads, field paths and hiking trails where there are few or no obstacles such as roots, thresholds, stones and steps. The wheels are in constant contact with the ground or may briefly lose contact with the ground due to minor bumps.


Mountain bikes

Category 3 wheels

For riding on paved roads, such as asphalt roads and cycle paths, paved forest roads, dirt tracks and hiking trails where obstacles such as roots, thresholds, stones and large steps can occur frequently. Sporadic jumps of up to 0.5 m in height are also within the range of use of these bikes. To avoid falls, this category requires a practiced riding technique and riding experience in this rough terrain.
