Titanium frames have a certain reputation: light, durable, functional. And mostly gray. But this custom-built veloheld.iconX Titanium - with a glaze powder coating in the beautiful color "Transparent Jade" - shows that there is another way.

Powder coating on titanium - does it work?

Yes, and without much extra effort.
As our titanium frames are blasted matt as standard, the surface already provides an ideal basis for powder coating or wet painting. In this case, the transparent jade color was applied directly to the raw titanium as a semi-transparent powder coating – without covering the typical material structure.

Our painter also found the right shade of wet paint so that the color of the carbon fork could also be precisely matched. As carbon cannot be powder-coated due to the high curing temperatures, we recommend wet painting both parts in such cases for a consistent color concept – for an even result.

P.S.: On request, the weld seams on this wheel were treated again with a welding torch – a purely optical step to create fine annealing colors. If you look closely, you’ll spot it.

The polished veloheld lettering comes through under the coating.

The veloheld.iconX titanium bike in detail

The basis is our veloheld.iconX – a titanium frameset for the rough and the beautiful. Designed for long tours, gravel roads and everything in between. Here, the bike was built with a current Shimano GRX Di2 2×12-speed groupset – electronic, precise, unobtrusive.

In addition, there is a Hunt wheelset that strikes a good balance between robustness and smooth running. The add-on parts are from the Ritchey WCS series – proven, simple, functional. And because it shouldn’t just be technically correct, there are also a few visual accents: a brown handlebar tape and a Selle Italia saddle (unfortunately there is no 100% matching handlebar tape), which contrast with the green tone of the frame.

A design that works – but is not arbitrary.

Who is the bike for?

For all those who like titanium frames but don’t necessarily want to ride in grey.
For all those who are looking for a functional gravel bike but still value details and individuality.
And for all those who have ever toyed with the idea of color coating a titanium bike – without taking away the material’s effect.

What do you think of this special iconX? Do you like the Transparent Jade color as much as we do? Or would you do something different? We look forward to your opinions in the comments!
