Spring just won't come and the mudguards can't come off. But they don't have to, if they harmonize so well with the rest of the bike, as on this veloheld gravel bike, even if it rains during the photo shoot...
The equipment
The veloheld “bike of the week” comes completely in the desired color “olive green” (RAL 6003). This time, the paint is not powder-coated as usual, but applied using the“wet paint process“. There is of course a reason for this – the carbon fork, because it cannot go into the powder coating oven at 200 C°.
The color concept is contrasted by the red Hope components (seat clamp, rear hub and headset). A matching red SON hub dynamo rotates at the front, which will later power a Supernova M99 lighting system.
Once again, the solid Shimano GRX 2×11 groupset was used for the drivetrain and Mr. Ritchey supplied the other components in the form of a seatpost, stem and WCS VentureMax.
With the wheels, you shouldn’t wonder why there is so much space between the mudguard and the tire. The reason for this is that the Schwalbe Pro One road tires are “only” 34 mm wide and the mudguards are actually designed for 40 mm wide tires. The new veloheld will certainly use the bike for future gravel tours in addition to road use and is therefore already well prepared.
