No rear derailleur to get ripped off by a rock. No derailleur hanger to carry as a spare. The veloheld.iron Pinion packs twelve gears and 600 per cent range safely into the bottom bracket. You shift mechanically with a twist shifter or, with the C1.12i Smart.Shift, electronically at the push of a button – even at a standstill. Instead of a chain there is a Gates CDX belt: quiet, clean and extremely low-maintenance. That turns our steel hardtail into a bikepacking trail MTB you hardly have to look after on the road.

The geometry is deliberately not extreme and is designed for forks with 100–120 mm travel optimised. Multi-point reinforced 25CrMo4 tubes make the frame sturdy enough for rough rides through undergrowth, with 29″ tyres up to 2.4″ or 27.5″ up to 2.6″. Brake – and gear cables run internally through the frame. It is welded a33> Incidentally it is also welded in our very own frame workshop in Leipzig.

This veloheld.iron Pinion complete bike is available to you in the standard colour Lollypop Purple or in your chosen RAL colour.

We weld every MTB steel frame ourselves – by hand, TIG, in our own frame building workshop in Leipzig. The tubes come from a specialist in Taiwan, the country where the best tubesets in the bicycle world have been drawn for decades. What becomes of them is made here, by us.

Only genuine with the iron

Our logo is laser-etched on the top tube. Underneath sits a geometry that is deliberately not extreme: agile enough for tight trails, calm enough when things get rough, stable enough with luggage. A steel hardtail, simply perfect for ironing your way through the undergrowth.

Stock color too boring? Then tell us your RAL color of choice – glossy or matt, with decal in black or silver. We coat your veloheld.iron in exactly that, one frame at a time. In the end you ride a steel hardtail you won’t run into again on any trail.

Classification

Bikes in Category 3 are designed for rougher, unpaved paths in addition to meeting the requirements of Categories 1 and 2. Bicycles in this category are suitable for occasional jumps with a maximum height of about 60 cm. For inexperienced riders, improper landings may occur, which can significantly increase the forces involved and lead to damage and injury. This category includes MTB hardtails with short travel suspension. The maximum allowable total weight, consisting of the rider, luggage, and bicycle, should not exceed 120 kg. Please note that this maximum weight may be further restricted depending on the usage recommendations of the component manufacturers.

How much maintenance does the Pinion gearbox need?

Very little. The gearbox is sealed inside the frame, so dirt and water cannot reach the gears. All it needs is an oil change every 10,000 km.

How long does the Gates belt last?

A Gates CDX belt lasts as a rule considerably longer than a chain. He doesn’t need a chain. a9> a chain. It doesn’t need any oil, doesn’t stretch and is cleaned simply with water clean. For bikepacking this means: no chain oil in your luggage and no black calves.

Can I really whilst stationary and under load change gear?

Yes. The Pinion C1.12i changes gears electronically at the touch of a button: whilst riding, when stationary and under load. Forgotten to change down before the hairpin bend? No problem.

How long does the battery in the Smart last? Shift and how do I charge it?

The battery is housed safely inside the frame. According to Pinion, one charge is sufficient for over 20,000 gear changes or. up to 100 hours of riding. Charging is carried out via cable directly on the bike.

Is the Iron Pinion also available with mechanical gears?

Yes. In the configurator you can choose instead of the electronic C1.12i, the mechanical Pinion C1.12 with twist grip can be selected. The gear cables run then underneath the down tube, and the bike costs €200 less.

Which fork is right for me?

With the steel fork, you get triple-cage mounts and a hassle-free bike for bikepacking. The carbon fork saves weight. The RockShox Reba RL with 120 mm travel is the right choice if you spend a lot of time on the trails.

How will the bike be delivered to me?

The bike is delivered almost fully assembled and securely packed in a cardboard box by a forwarding agent within Germany. After delivery, you can assemble it ready to ride in a few simple steps and without special tools and go on your first ride straight away. You can find all information about the structure here.

What exactly do I have to install after delivery?

After delivery, you can quickly assemble the bike ready to ride with just a few simple steps and a few tools.

To do this, the handlebars incl. Turn the stem in the direction of travel, install the pedals and adjust your saddle height.

Can I test ride the bike?

If you live near one of our dealers, you can also test ride your dream bike there. Please get in touch with the dealer first so that he really has the bike in stock and can prepare it for you if necessary.

If you buy the bike directly from us, you can test ride it on a dry surface at home after receiving and assembling it. If, contrary to expectations, you don’t like it and/or it doesn’t fit, we will collect it from you again free of charge. All you have to do is pack it safely back into the shipping box and wait for collection. Please note: This does not apply to customized bikes.

Do I have an additional guarantee?

Without limiting the statutory warranty rights, we grant you a total warranty of 5 years from the date of purchase on veloheld frames and veloheld forks. You can find the exact details on our warranty and guarantee page.
