INTROSilver balloon letters hung above our stand: MTB IS FOR FUN. Beneath them stood three bikes, two of which were on public display for the first time. Here they are, along with the stories behind them. Bespoked was a bit smaller than usual this year, and that really did the weekend a world of good. It meant there was time for conversations with you that lasted longer than two minutes  conversations that eventually moved beyond just the bike in front of us to cover tube sets, painters, favourite routes and that one ride you absolutely must do at some point. In between, we set off ourselves to have a look at what the others had brought along. We met lots of lovely people there too and gathered plenty of inspiration. That’s exactly why we love being at Bespoked so much.

veloheld.iron, Custom Builds

Our new MTB, the veloheld.iron, was on public display for the first time, and we couldn’t resist going just a tiny bit over the top.
Everything on this bike that can be anodised is purple. Headset, seatpost clamp, chainring bolts, plus a RockShox suspension fork in a purple gradient that echoes the frame colour. And the longer you look, the more you discover. When we started putting the parts together, we thought: “This is going to be a short list.” Well, that escalated quickly.

The basis for this custom build is provided by the standard steel frame: double and triple end-reinforced, size-specific tailored tubes made of 25CrMo4, by hand using TIG welded at Sören in our frame-building workshop in Leipzig. 44 mm head tube, T47 bottom bracket, UDH, space for 29 inches up to 2.4, designed for suspension forks from 100 to 120 mm.
The fact that such a assembly works at a trade fair, was part of one trade fair, was part of a trade fair, was part of a trade fair, was part of a trade fair, was part of a trade fair, was a trade fair works was to be expected. The fact that so many of you wanted to know more about it, what the production bike looks like, has made us particularly happy. The veloheld. iron is in fact also available in the standard colour Lavender Sparkle.

Get dirty. Come back smiling.

veloheld.iron with Pinion SmartShift

Right next to it was the second launch, which will be available in the shop soon.
The idea for the veloheld.iron Pinion SmartShift didn’t come from us, but was actually inspired by you all. Our gravel bike, the veloheld.iconX with Pinion, performs so well that at some point the question arose: Why not fit it to an MTB as well? Off-road, a gearbox makes even more sense than on gravel. The entire internal mechanism is housed safely in the bottom bracket, rather than as a rear derailleur at the back of the frame, where it regularly comes into contact with stones and roots.
Added to this is SmartShift, i.e. electronic gear-shifting. Pre.Select is particularly handy off-road: the system changes gears whilst you’re coasting and not pedalling at all. So, before a bend or at the end of a descent, the right gear is already engaged before you start pedalling again. And for anyone worried about the battery running out: a single charge is enough for over 20,000 gear changes.

veloheld.icon Allroad with Pirope wheels

Our third bike was the veloheld.icon Allroad in Illusion Merlot, fitted with a wheelset from Pirope.
At Pirope, the spokes are made from a textile fibre composite. Lighter, and the vibrations feel different. Anyone seeing this for the first time takes a second look and usually asks: “Will it hold?” But yes, it certainly does!
Underneath the wheelset lies our sportiest bike. Columbus tubes from Italy, welded in Leipzig, fully integrated cable routing for electronic groupset, tyre clearance up to 40 mm.

Thanks, Bespoked

Three days, three bikes, countless conversations. We love going to Bespoked every year, but when it’s also just a twenty-minute drive from our showroom, that’s a real stroke of luck.
The veloheld.iron is now available to order, as a complete bike or as a frameset. If you want yours to be just as colourful as our exhibition display: Your chosen colour and your chosen parts are always available from us in any case.
