A colour that sparkles
To be honest, cycling is often taken rather seriously. Subdued colours, technical terms, intense pressure to perform and lots of different opinions. In our view, mountain biking is the easiest way to break away from that, because here the focus is on getting dirty. MTB is fun for us. That’s why we’ve chosen Lavender Sparkle as the standard colour and deliberately decided not to keep the logo as clean-cut as you’re used to seeing from us. Because, at its heart, mountain biking is all about what you loved doing most as a child: go out, play and get dirty and then come home again. Get dirty. Come back smiling.
And if you think Lavender Sparkle has too much glitter: Your choice of colour is still available, of course, in any RAL shade, glossy or matt.
For whom we built it for
The veloheld.iron is built for that extra bit of fun off-road. And, of course, for the cloud of dust you leave in your wake as you glide casually round the bends.
Small and large trails, roots, rocks, short steep climbs and the descent that follows – that’s what the iron loves best. The geometry is deliberately not extreme, but agile enough for narrow trails and stable enough when the going gets rough. Designed for suspension forks with 100 to 120 mm of travel, with space for 29-inch tyres up to 2.4 or 27.5-inch tyres up to 2.6.
But the veloheld.iron isn’t just at the forefront when it comes to having fun; it’s also right up there when the urge to explore strikes and you want to be out and about for longer. As a bikepacking bike, it also performs really well. You sit in a more upright position than on a gravel bike, which is simply much more relaxed on long days in the saddle. The wide flat bar gives you more leverage on the front wheel, which is particularly helpful when you’ve got luggage on the back and the bike gets heavier. And because there’s no drop bar getting in the way at the front, you’ve got plenty of space there for a thick handlebar roll.
But to be honest, a straight handlebar only offers one grip position. So if you like to change your hand position after many hours, it’s best to add bar ends or ergonomic grips. Otherwise, there are eyelets for three bottle cages, a top tube bag and a luggage rack are already fitted. When it comes to the fork, the choice is yours. RockShox Reba Gold for trail riding, the veloheld Chromoly rigid fork or the veloheld carbon rigid fork for anyone who’d rather ride long distances than jump over roots.
The centrepiece is the steel frame
Multi-tapered 25CrMo4 tubes, tailored to specific dimensions, with double end reinforcement on the top and down tubes. Every steel frame is welded by Sören, our Framemaster, in our own frame workshop in Leipzig.
If you look more closely, you’ll also find a 44 mm head tube, a T47 bottom bracket with neat cable routing through the steel frame right down to the chainstays, internal routing for a dropper post and theUDH derailleur hanger.
Ready to rumble. The construction of the production bike
The standard bike is fitted with a Shimano SLX or SRAM EAGLE 90 in 1×12, along with DT Swiss M 1900 Spline wheelsets and Schwalbe Rick XC tyres in 29×2.4. The cockpit is by Ritchey. A RockShox Reverb Stealth dropper post is available as an optional extra.
You can find full details of the standard bike in the online shop.

The rest is the same as on the standard bike: a frame made from 25CrMo4 tubing, hand-welded in Leipzig, available in Lavender Sparkle or a colour of your choice, with all the eyelets for bottle cages, a top tube bag and a luggage rack already fitted.
You can find all the details about the frame set in the online shop.
