Why use a belt drive on a gravel bike?
Christian is one of the mechanics at veloheld and he really loves chains a lot, and even he was after a a17> few kilometres on the iconX Pinion absolutely convinced, that a belt drive on a gravel bike simply makes sense.
The belt drive does exactly what a38>, which is annoying about a chain, gone.
No oiling, no rusting, no dirty fingers.
The belt runs dry, stays clean and lasts four to five times as long as a normal chain. Maintenance? Just spray it down with water – that’s it.
The Pinion gearbox is fully sealed.
This means: If nothing from the outside gets in, then nothing can break. No rear derailleur, that gets stuck somewhere, no cage, that bends out of shape. Just ride, whether on tarmac, gravel or in the rain.

Elektronisches Schalten über Schaltpaddel am Lenker, individuell anpassbare Schaltcharakteristik, sogar geschwindigkeitsabhängiges automatisches Schalten ist möglich. Die Batterie sitzt im Unterrohr, hält rund 20.000 Schaltvorgänge bzw. ca. 100 Fahrstunden – auf Reisen findet man in diesem Zeitraum garantiert eine Steckdose. Also absolut smart.

Who is the iconX Pinion designed for?
To be honest: not for everyone. The Pinion gearbox adds a bit more weight to the bike – anyone who wants to win goes for something else. But for cycle tourists, commuters and everyone who simply wants a bike wants – it simply always works – without effort, without excuses – it is an absolute hit.
Customisation options such as those available for our otherwise also. There are all sorts of eyelets, which you need for bottle cages, luggage racks, mudguards or top tube bags. Steel or carbon forks, depending on use.
Standard colour is Beetle Juice – a warm golden green metallic, which really is called that and looks just as good. Your choice of colour is available but of course as always too.
